Apple faces millions of iPhone 14 Pro shortage ahead of festive season – newzflash

Apple is facing a shortage of up to 20 million units of iPhone 14 Pro variants due to the ongoing COVID lockdown in China.

Apple faces a massive shortage of iPhone 14 Pro units ahead of the upcoming holiday season. Compared to the initial expectations, Apple is said to face a shortage between 15 million to 20 million units of the iPhone 14 Pro series. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are said to be in huge demand ever since the launch, and Apple was struggling to keep up with the demand. The recent COVID lockdown in the city of Zhengzhou along with the labour protests have made the situation worse.

Based on recent data from noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is said that Apple is now expected to ship only 70-75 million units of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This is a significantly huge number compared to initially assumed 6 million. While Foxconn is unable to meet the demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models, Kuo says that Pegatron and Luxshare ICT, who also manufacture iPhones for Apple, will pick up 10 percent of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro orders, respectively. This is said to help with the shortage but the effects will be observed until late December.

iPhone 14 Pro in mega shortage!

The shortage is also going to worsen Apple’s income in the Q4 2022. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max carry exorbitant price tags, and a reduction in the shipping units will affect the overall income.

Moreover, with the economic recession expected to hit us hard, Kuo says that demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models is likely to fall, since not many people would like to settle for an ultra expensive iPhone when there is an economic uncertainty.

As of now, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are out of stocks in the US, while other markets are also witnessing a slump in stocks. The iPhone 14 Pro in India starts at a price of Rs. 139,900 for the base 128GB variant, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs an extra Rs. 10000. The Pro variants feature the new 4nm A16 Bionic chip, a 48MP main rear camera sensor, a new Dynamic Island, and a new Always On display feature.
