Watch: Dravid’s priceless answer to Gill’s ‘locker room’ question captures hearts | Cricket

Team India recorded a convincing 90-run victory over New Zealand in the third ODI of the series on Tuesday to secure a 3-0 win in the series. The hosts posted a mammoth score of 385/9 in fifty overs after brilliant centuries from Rohit Sharma (101) and Shubman Gill (112); the duo bonded a 212-run partnership for the first wicket. In reply New Zealand could only reach 295 and Devon Conway scored 135; for India, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav each chose three wickets.

Gill was named player of the series for his phenomenal performance between the three ODIs; in the first game he scored a brilliant double century (208), followed by an unbeaten 40 and finally another hundred in Indore. With 360 runs in three matches, he equaled Pakistan captain Babar Azam for most runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series.

Following the win in the third ODI, the BCCI posted a video of Gill and head coach Rahul Dravid having a no-strings-attached conversation about the side’s dominant victory. With Dravid praising Gill for his brilliant performance, the youngster finally asked the head coach if he was in a dressing room named after him.

In 2015, the dressing room at Holkar Stadium in Indore was renamed after the legendary former Indian batsman and captain. “How does it feel to enter the locker room with your name on it?” Gill asked Dravid further bcci.tv.

The Team India head coach laughed and said he was thankful for it but also admitted it was “embarrassing”.

“It feels good. You are grateful for all the love I have received from so many people over the years. It is a privilege to play this sport in this country. The love you receive is phenomenal and I was lucky that I had the talent to play cricket and I was able to do that for a long time,” said Dravid.

“I sometimes feel a little ashamed. But you do feel very grateful,” Dravid added.
