Watch: Babar mercilessly booed by PAK fans with ‘ZimBabar’ chants in 2nd test | Cricket

Although Babar Azam is regarded as the Pakistan side’s talisman batsman in all formats, the Pakistan captain was not met with a hero’s reception when he failed to shoot for the Asian giants in the 2nd Test match against Ben Stokes-led England. Captain Babar led the Pakistan side’s batting in the 2nd Test and played a gritty 75 off 95 ball strike in Pakistan’s first essay at Multan Cricket Stadium.

While many expected Babar to continue his free-scoring run into the 2nd innings, the in-form batsman showed a rare batting error as Babar was taken off cheaply by England’s Ollie Robinson. Babar was simply outmaneuvered by the English speed trader before the end of the 19th. Babar was mercilessly cheated by Pakistani fans after the top cricketer was killed for a mediocre individual score in the 2nd innings.

Babar-led Pakistan finished Day 3 198-4 in 64 overs.

Opener Abdullah Shafique scored 45 from 94 balls, while Saud Shakeel (54* from 123 balls) and Imam-ul-Haq (60 from 104 balls) organized Pakistan’s fightback in the 2nd innings. Pakistan needed 157 runs to win the 2nd Test when play resumed on Day 4 at Multan. Speaking of Pakistan’s encounter with England in the 2nd test, Stokes-led England were bowled out for 275 in the 2nd innings at Multan.

Earlier, England defeated Pakistan for 202 in 62.5 overs after posting 281 in the first innings at Multan. Touring the Asian nation for the first time in 17 years, the visitors had beaten Babar-led Pakistan in the First Test by 74 runs at Rawalpindi Stadium. The visitors can take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series with a victory over Pakistan at Multan.
