Washington Sundar’s INCREDIBLE scoop shot in 1st ODI vs NZ breaks the internet, WATCH | Cricket news

Washington Sundar has been out for a long time due to several career injuries since Australia’s heroics in 2020-21. The off-spinner is also a very capable batsman and when he got the chance to impress in the 1st ODI vs New Zealand in Auckland he grabbed it with both hands. First with the bat. He came to bat when India needed a big finish. He then hit 37 off 16 balls to take India to a strong total of 306/7 in 50 overs. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first.

On that knock, Sundar hit 3 fours and sixes each and one of the boundaries came straight from Suryakumar Yadav’s book. Adam Milne bowled a full delivery outside the stump and the southpaw Sundar went across and picked the ball from outside the stump to scoop it over the fine leg area for a four. What made that shot very special was Sundar’s late adjustment and reaction to the ball. As soon as he played the shot, he fell to the ground and that made for a stunning image. Watching him, you couldn’t believe this batter just scored a boundary.

Watch Washington Sundar play that incredible shot against New Zealand in the 1st ODI:

India was helped massively by openers Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan who hit fifty. Gill made 50 from 65 balls while Dhawan hit 72 from 77 balls. Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer with 80 from 76 balls. Unfortunately for India, the top 3 made fifty, but failed to convert them into a hundred and help India put a huge total on the board.
