T20 World Cup 2022: Gautam Gambhir Says Suryakumar Yadav More Valuable Than Virat Kohli, Check HERE – IND vs ZIM | Cricket News

T20 World Cup 2022: The relationship between Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir goes way back to the time of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014, when former Indian batsman SKY roped into SKY of Mumbai Indians. Surya, had only played one season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the time in 2013. He later played four seasons with KKR, playing the role of finisher in 54 games. However, his level changed when he played for Mumbai Indians in 2018 which also earned him his Team India major. After Surya’s great performances, Gambhir labeled him KKR’s “biggest loss” a few years later. As of 2022, Suryakumar Yadav is the world’s No. 1 T20I batter in the world and is currently a great asset to Team India’s batting lineup.

Gautam Gambhir is known for his clear statements and the former KKR captain found Suryakumar Yadavi more valuable than any other batter in the T20I format for his hitting speed. Interestingly, Gambhir indirectly said that Surya is currently more valuable than any other batter to India in the T20I format, meaning SKY is more valuable to Gambhir than Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

“Let’s not give him names like 360, there’s a lot of work to do. He’s got a lot of talent. Whether it’s 360, 180 or 1 degree, it doesn’t matter. He has the game. He knows what he’s doing. When a traditional coach sees him, he may say ‘he has an open mind, he doesn’t get behind the line’, but he has been successful with what he has. He has scored points in first-class cricket and in every format. Hopefully he will get a chance in Test cricket and do well,” Gambhir told Star Sports.

β€œHe (Suryakumar) may not have the best cover drive like the others (Indian batters), but he has that 180 striker rate which is much more valuable than the other Indian batters,” Gambhir added.

Although, Gambhir didn’t directly say Kohli’s name, but he did say that Surya’s 180-strike rate makes him more valuable than any other Indian batter.

Rohit Sharma and co will be out of action against Zimbabwe on Sunday (November 6) in their final Super 12 clash of the 2022 T20 World Cup. If India lose, they risk being knocked out of the tournament. Rohit Sharma’s men need to make sure their campaign is on track. Zimbabwe, not to mention, has already shaken up the tournament once before beating Babar Azam’s Pakistan. However, Men in Green have been given another chance in the tournament with a big win over South Africa. They have a healthy NRR and based on that they can knock out South Africa or India, if other results are in their favour.
