Prithvi Shaw hits undefeated double hundred against Assam in Ranji Trophy

The opener hit 33 fours and a six, making 123 runs for the first wicket with Musheer Khan and an unbeaten 200 for the third with Ajinkya Rahane, as Mumbai ran into trouble at 397 for 2. Shaw was stern on Roshan Alam and banged a left-arm spinner for 76 runs on a run-a-ball.

This was Shaw’s first hundred in the Ranji Trophy this season. He entered the match with just 160 runs in his previous seven innings at an average of 22.85 and a high score of 68.

He had a mediocre Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 217 runs in seven innings, but averaging over 50 in List A cricket.
Shaw recently found support from former India batsman Gautam Gambhir, who put the responsibility on coaches and selectors to guide him and keep him on track.

“Someone like a Prithvi Shaw, the kind of start he had in his international career and the kind of talent he has, you support a player with talent,” said Gambhir. “Yeah, you also have to look at the upbringing – where he comes from and also the challenges he’s had. It makes even more sense for management and selectors to keep him in the mix and help him get on the right track. come.” track.

“If he’s willing to go hard – and I know how destructive he can be; if he can win games for you, whether it’s trainers, management, head coach or squad chairman, all these guys should have the It’s It’s up to us to try and get these young guys on the right path.”
