Premier League: Last gasp Erling Haaland penalty gives Man City dramatic 10-man win over Fulham | Football news

MANCHESTER: An injury time penalty from a substitute Erling Haaland 10-man Manchester City earned a dramatic 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday, a win that will take the champions back to the top of the table. Eredivisie.
With top scorer Haaland only deemed fit enough for the bench after missing the previous two City games through injury, Argentine forward Julian Alvarez gave the home side a 17-minute lead.
The champions thought they had quickly doubled their lead via John Stones, but Rodri was sidelined in the build-up and Fulham took advantage of that delay by going straight down the other side and winning a 26-minute penalty.
City defender Joao Cancelo was shown a straight red card for bundling Harry Wilson on the floor, with former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira making no mistake from the spot as Fulham moved into the interval.
City continued to dominate, even numerically behind. Haaland was brought in and soon thought he had restored his side’s lead after looking in a header, but VAR intervened to sideline the Norwegian.
It seemed City had done all they could until Kevin De Bruyne was knocked down and Haaland converted the penalty to send the Etihad Stadium into delirium in the 95th minute as the champions are one point ahead of Arsenal at the top of the standings. Fulham remained eighth.
