Pakistan will face England on Friday (September 23) in the third game of the seven-game T20I series at the National Stadium in Karachi. Babar Azam’s side tied the series at 1-1 on Thursday (September 22), winning the second game by 10 wickets after losing the first game by six wickets earlier this week.
Babar Azam returned to batting form with a century and Mohammad Rizwan hit 88 in a Pakistani record-breaking double century opening tie to beat England by 10 wickets in the second Twenty20. Babar made an unbeaten 110 in his second T20 century from 66 balls as Pakistan reached 203-0 with three balls left to level the seven-game streak on Thursday.
Moeen Ali accelerated at the back of the English innings with an unbeaten 55 off 23 balls and led the team to 199-5 after winning the toss and opting to bat. “We planned to play depending on the situation and planned when to charge and when to hold back,” said Babar.
Only three times has a goal over 150 been chased in T20Is without losing a wicket.
“The implementation of that plan has been brilliant. If you have a target in front of you, you play to it and change gears accordingly.”
Babar and Rizwan attacked England with aggressive strikes as the visitors failed to hold on to their chances of breaking the tie. Babar entered Thursday’s game after just 98 runs in his previous seven T20s, including 68 runs in the six Asia Cup matches in the United Arab Emirates and a knockout of 30 in Tuesday’s opening game of the series.
