The ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has given fans entertaining blows, with one or the other taking the opportunity with their six-hitting prowess. A similar scene was seen during Thursday’s clash between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders, who won the former by seven runs.
The patriots who batted first piled up a modest 163/6 in 20 overs, which saw South African young star Dewald Brevis and Mumbai Indians attack late. The righthanded batter, who appeared on the scene in the previous edition of the U-19 World Cup, shot five sixes in the six pitches he faced in the game. The sixes came over in the last five deliveries he received during the 19th and 20th.
Brevis’ spectacular performance saw him finish the knockout with a strike rate of 500. Aside from Brevis, Patriots-playing West Indian batter Shelfane Rutherford scored 50-ball 78, with six 4s and five 6s.
The Knight Riders could only get 156/7 in 20 overs in response.
Brevis’ knock comes just a day after Delhi Capitals and West Indies hitter Odean Smith hit five sixes into an over. Smith achieved the feat in the match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs. The Warriors batter hit 42 runs off 16 balls.
