Suryakumar Yadav was a lucky man on Wednesday (Jan 25) as he was named as the 2022 ICC Men’s T20I Cricket Player of the Year. Thanks to a brilliant display of batting in the shortest form of the game in 2022 in which Surya scored 1164 runs at a health average of over 46 and pass rate in 180s, he was the obvious choice for the award. After winning the award, SKY posted a message to his fans and loved ones, thanking them for their constant support while also revealing the great lesson he has learned even in what has been a fantastic year for him.

“I just wanted to come here and say a big thank you to all of you. It’s an incredible feeling. This award is for everyone who is part of my journey. My coaches, my family, my friends, my teammates and all of you are my driving force. Previous year was full of blessings. And some unforgettable memories. My favorite one was the first hundred I got for my country. Although the year ended on a personal high, there were definitely some lessons I could learn. And I want to leave you with my biggest learning experience from the previous year. That was hard work and being honest with yourself. As I talk about the year that has given me so much, I’m looking forward to this year and whatever it has in store we achieve it together. Guys, toh milte hai maidan pe,” Suryakumar said in a video he posted on Twitter.

Suryakumar is currently the #1 batsman in the world in T20Is. He sits there comfortably. In 2022 he smashed 2 tons. His favorite was clearly Nottingham’s, where he hit 117 from just 55 balls and almost single-handedly carried India to victory from a precarious position in a tough chase.
