‘Kohli is not going to win you…’: World Cup winner gives warning to 2-star batters | Cricket

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli saved Rohit Sharma’s blush during the biggest stages of all and played a memorable blow to help Team India beat Babar Azam-led Pakistan in their ICC World T20 2022 opener on Sunday. Saving Rohit-led India from a shocking collapse of the highest order, Kohli joined forces with Hardik Pandya as the superstar duo sealed a stunning victory for the Men In Blue at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

While Kohli dealt a stellar blow to the 2007 world champions, skipper Rohit and opener KL Rahul had forgetful forays with the willow in the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan at the T20 World Cup. At a time when Kohli is busily earning credit for his marauding knockout against Pakistan, former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has issued a stern warning to established opener pair Rohit and Rahul.

In conversation with news agency PTIA in an interview, Lal saluted Kohli’s brilliant punching power after India’s thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. “Virat Kohli’s innings were great. I’ve never seen innings like this, but Virat Kohli won’t win you every game. It’s such a big tournament. It can’t be won by one person,” said Lal.

The winner of the 1983 World Cup thinks Indian openers Rahul and Rohit should take off their socks for Team India’s upcoming game against the Netherlands. The Rohit-led Team India hope to bolster their qualifying bid for the semi-finals when the 2007 world champions face the Netherlands on Thursday.

“Australian fields are suited to Kohli’s game. He runs the ones, twos and threes and uses the large grounds to his advantage. In between he scores the limits. He has grown mentally stronger. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have to stop their socks. Everyone has to making sure they perform and give their best all the time. And in every game there will be different heroes,” commented Lal.

India’s most limiting player in T20 World Cup history, Indian captain Rohit, was sacked for 4 of 7 balls in the fourth over. Rohit’s partner-in-crime Rahul came down for 4 from 8 balls in the second over. Riding Kohli’s quick-fire half-century (82* from 53 balls), India outclassed Pakistan by 4 wickets at the MCG. “India’s task is yet to be completed. The journey has just begun. Even teams like the Netherlands are not weak teams. In T20 it is everyone’s game. If you win the tournament you can only say the mission is completed and as an Indian team we’ve done the job,” added the former India head coach.
