India Predicted XI vs New Zealand 3rd ODI: Trailing 0-1 in the three-match series, Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India will look to end the final ODI on a positive note and wrap things up at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. India, despite a challenging 306/7 on the board, suffered a heavy defeat as Tom Lathan and Kane Williamson took New Zealand to a seven-wicket victory in the series opener at Auckland.
During the second ODI in Hamilton, India made two changes to their playing XI with Deepak Hooda and Deepak Chahar replacing Sanju Samson and Shardul Thakur. However, rain played a bummer and the game was abandoned with just 12.5 overs action. As the action shifts to Christchurch it will be interesting to see if India is tempted to bring Samson into the XI.

Looking at India’s combination, the openers, Dhawan and Shubman Gill, are likely to remain the same, with Suryakumar Yadav being number one. 3.
But there could be a slight shuffle in the mid-order as Sanju Samson could replace Rishabh Pant. Samson has been in great shape lately, while Pant is struggling. Pant had previously scored 15 from 23 in the 1st ODI, while Samson had contributed 36 from 38 balls. Moreover, Samson is no less a wicket-keeper than his team-mate, a thought that too resonated by former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull.
If so, Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal could assume the responsibility of the spinning division and give India the option to field an additional seaman.
Shardul Thakur, who was absent from the playing XI in the previous ODI, was warming up ahead of the match, but he was seen under close supervision by a support staff. We don’t know the reason behind it, but with bowlers out of action in the second ODI, Thakur could be 100 per cent fit for Wednesday’s game.
The inclusion of Shardul and Deepak Chahar will add some depth to the batting, and they can also do wonders with the ball in Christchurch.
