Ahead of IND vs BAN 1st ODI, Umran Malik replaces injured Mohammed Shami; Check the updated team | Cricket news

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the ODIs between India and Bangladesh due to a hand injury. Shami heals a hand injury that could also keep the best pacer out of the Tests in Bangladesh. This is a major blow to Team India considering that even Jasprit Bumrah is missing from the roster as he is on his way back from a back problem. Shami was rested for New Zealand’s white ball tour and this injury comes as a shock. There is no update on Shami’s injury so far, how much he damaged the hand. Umran Malik has been designated as a replacement, the selectors confirmed on Saturday.

However, it is not certain that Umran will be able to reach Bangladesh at the start of the first ODI, which starts tomorrow at 11.30am IST.

With the pacers falling prey to injuries, India has been tested in the white ball formats. Shami will be told to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to help recover in time.

“Shami suffered a shoulder injury during a training session ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team of the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to compete in the three match The All-India Senior Selection Committee has appointed Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement,” the BCCI press release said.
