Team India’s BIG Weakness at T20 World Cup 2022: Jasprit Bumrah’s Absence from Rishabh Pant and Middle Order | Cricket News

0

Team India has flown to Australia to participate in the 2022 T20 World Cup and their first match will be against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23. Those matches will be played at the beautiful Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where more than 80,000 thousand fans will cheer for both Men in Blue and Babar Azam and Co. India will not play a T20I until that big game, except for the two warm-up clashes. However, Pakistan is not only playing the warm-ups but also taking part in the New Zealand T20I series which also involved Bangladesh. Before the massive IND vs PAK match at T20 World Cup 2022, let’s take a look at four things that could prove to be India’s weak links in the mega event.

No Jasper Bumrah

First thing first. You can’t replace someone like Jasprit Bumrah. He is just too good with both the new ball and the old ball and even in Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj there is no similar substitute for Bumrah. His release points, his cleverness and his skills cannot be replaced. India would definitely miss his services, especially in the death overs.

Lower middle order

India’s middle class, which includes Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel, has not fared very well together. India will need major finishes from them, but whether they can deliver in Australian conditions is questionable. Fact is, these 3 didn’t get a chance to finish games for India because India experimented too much. Then there is a curious matter of Rishabh Pant. He hasn’t had a great performance in T20Is and if he plays it will put more pressure on players like Hardik and Karthik. Pants must perform. But its shape is a concern.

KL Rahul and Rohit as openers

KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the top 3 could become a concern for India at the T20 World Cup. They have been playing in this template for a long time and teams have realized their weaknesses and strengths. Rahul’s form is on and off, while Rohit has blown hot and cold as well. India long ago had to whip up a left-handed opener, but it can’t now. A lot of Team India’s chances depend on how these 3 go together.

Pace Attack

No Bumrah means India will have to find ways to pick wickets with the new ball. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has failed to do that in the recent past and he has even struggled with the old ball. Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel and Hardik Pandya will have to resign. It’s the bowling that wins you the tournaments and India needs at least two pacers to be in top form at the Wor Cup.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes cast Jessica Jones’ Eka Darville, Locke & Key’s Kevin Durand: Report

0

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has reportedly cast Eka Darville and Kevin Durand in undisclosed roles. 20th Century Studios announced the film last week with a teaser image and a 2024 release window. Wes Ball – noted for his work in the Maze Runner films – is attached to direct, from a script written by a team of four. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes serves as the fourth entry in the reboot series and takes place years after the events of director Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes.

The 2017 film served as a fitting end to Ape Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) journey as he died looking into the horizon – ensuring a safer future for his son and his army. In his last moments, Maurice (Karin Konoval), the noble orangutan, promised him that the child will know about Caesar’s legacy. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes begins production this month, so it’s super early to tell if this new chapter follows the story of the offspring. But what we do know for sure is that it’s a direct sequel that “takes place many years after” Caesar’s death.

Both Darville and Durand join the already confirmed cast including Owen Teague (It), Peter Macon (Family Guy) and Freya Allan – best known for playing Ciri in Netflix’s The Witcher series.

Darville was also once part of the Netflix family via Marvel’s Jessica Jones, before it officially moved home to Disney+. Meanwhile, horror fans will recognize Durand as Frederick Gideon, the minor antagonist from Locke & Key. While there are no details on the former’s role in the film, Deadline’s unconfirmed sources claim that Durand will play a villainous monkey.

Originally, Reeves (The Batman) expressed interest in doing more Apes movies with Steve Zahn’s (The White Lotus) Bad Ape and expanding the story. But in late 2019, he was engaged in the DC Comics film that put Ball in control of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. As for the writing team, we have Josh Friedman (Terminator: Dark Fate), Rick Jaffa (Mulan), Amanda Silver (Jurassic World) and Patrick Aison (Prey).

The Planet of the Apes film series dates back to 1968, with Rod Serling’s screenplay introducing Cold War themes and a twist ending that revealed planet Earth to be a nuclear wasteland. The year 2001 saw a Tim Burton remake, which never got a sequel, as the director found 20th Century Fox’s production schedule quite exhausting. The studio later revisited the franchise through Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which grossed $481.8 million (approx. Rs. 3,929 crore) globally.

Director Reeves came on board to direct the follow-ups – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes. The films grossed $708.8 million (approx. Rs. 5,778 crore) and $490.7 million (approx. Rs. 4,000 crore) respectively at the worldwide box office. In our review of the third chapter, we called the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy the best trilogy of the 2010s. Its sequel has a lot to live up to.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is slated to be released sometime in 2024 in theaters worldwide.

‘DK came in 2014…’: ex-player advice to Pant, warns ‘team will leave you’ | Cricket

0

Rishabh Pant disappointed again with the bat, coming in as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in the recent India vs South Africa 3rd T20I, held in Indore. After Rohit’s two-ball duck, Pant tried to anchor India’s pursuit and tried to build a partnership with Dinesh Karthik after Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal in the second over. But the wicketkeeper-batter lost his wicket to Lungi Ngidi in the final delivery of the fifth over when he hit a short ball towards cover where Tristan Stubbs took a diving catch. The Delhi Capitals (DC) captain was able to register just 27 runs on 14 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Many fans and pundits have been doubting his place in the T20 World Cup in India lately. Former player Ajay Jadeja had some advice for Rishabh Pant and asked him to seek help from an experienced cricketer.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Jadeja explained that Pant missed a big chance to prove a point in the third T20I and also warned him to sort out his issues quickly. “Yes, he missed it and I hope I mean he doesn’t have to go too far. He had to look at his batting partner today. It took him 15 years for the team to start to believe and you know you accept it. DK (Karthik) who had the same talent for the past 15 years,” he said.

Also read | “Pakistan is too dependent on Babar and Rizwan. While India…’

“DK came in 2014 and you know the team persevered with him, coming back every time because you believe in some talent. But if you don’t perform, that team will eventually leave you out somewhere. So he will have to and he doesn’t have far to go.”

“He’s got a buddy on that team, to learn from him and say, ‘Listen, you know what to do if there’s something I’m missing. You’ve been through this, show me the way,’ ’cause how big a as I am, how long will you stay with him. There is no one else who can help him because of his talent, as I said before. You just said I mean there’s no shortage of talent and it’s just this format.”

“So it’s something, that he has to figure that out and a really good person to talk to would be DK, because he’s probably been through a similar situation where teams, captains and coaches always brought him back every few years. But it does. never happened to him and it took so long for him to get to the stage where the team or you know most of the world gave up on him but he didnt give up and he came back so better if he learns it now in rather than when you know he’s reaching the age of DK,” he added.

Karthik hit 46 runs off 21 balls in the third T20I as India failed to chase a 228 run goal and 178 was thrown out in 18.3 overs. Initially, an unbeaten ton by Rilee Roussouw (100* off 48 balls) propelled South Africa to 227 for three in 20 overs.
