National Girl Child Day is celebrated on January 24 every year. It was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India to raise public awareness of the inequalities faced by girls in society. On this occasion, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, addressed a function in Dehradun and informed that the BJP-led state government has introduced the bill in the assembly regarding 30 percent reservation for women in government positions. He also mentioned that the government is committed to providing facilities for women in the field of sports as well. “We brought the bill into the assembly and now women are given a 30% reserve for government jobs. In addition, we are committed to providing facilities for women in the field of sports as well,” said Pushkar Singh Dhami.
