Sergio Aguero Furious at AFA for not providing credentials to visit team

Former Argentina and Macchester City striker Sergio Aguero, who is currently in Qatar on FIFA’s invitation for the 2022 World Cup, was frustrated by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) for not allowing the 34-year-old access to visit the players and wish them ahead of the tournament.

Agüero, who had to hang up his boots after developing a cardiac arrhythmia, was furious at not being allowed to meet his country’s representatives at the World Cup.

“If they don’t want me to go, tell me straight to my face. Always full with Argentina and with this team that represents us all. We know they’ll give it their all for this shirt we love so much. And as Leo [Messi] said we will all walk together,” he tweeted.

“I couldn’t see the team yet. But let’s see. Everything is a bit weird. It’s been about three or four days since I asked for the ID to access the concentration and they still haven’t given it to me, when I see other people get off the plane and they get it right away,” said he was quoted on streaming platform Twitch.

Aguero, who is known for his close relationship with national captain Lionel Messi, always shared a room with La Pulga on their travels during the striker’s playing days.

“Strange that they don’t give you an ID quickly. I was on the national team and they quickly make you an ID. What do I know… the AFA. That makes me angry. I’ve never done anyone wrong. I’ve always behaved well. Maybe there are people who don’t like me saying bad things to them. And if they don’t want me to go, no problem, just tell me straight to my face.”

“Look if I’m going to Spain and I still haven’t gone to my teammates. No, thanks for inviting me… I just wanted to visit the guys and wish them luck, but that’s it, I’m not going to bother them hours after the debut. It will be saved for later,” he said.

Argentina’s World Cup campaign got off to a disastrous start after they went down 2-1 against Saudi Arabia.

Messi and co. play their upcoming fixtures against Mexico and Poland in the next few days to wrap up their group stage fixtures.
