Randeep Hooda Replaces Mahesh Manjarekar as Swatantra Director Veer Savarkar: Report

Randeep Hooda is one of the versatile actors in the industry. The Sarabjit actor has always impressed audiences with his impeccable acting skills in films like Highway, Extraction and Baaghi 2 amongst others. The actor will return to the big screen in the title role in Swatantra Veer Savarkar. According to the latest update, he will not only act in the film, but also direct the film.

According to a report from PeepingMoon.com, Mahesh Manjrekar, who would go on to direct Swantra Veer Savarkar, has opted out of the project. A source close to the development revealed to the entertainment portal that Randeep Hooda has taken over directing the film.

According to the same report, the shoot of Swantantra Veer Savarkar will start next week in Maharashtra.


Talking about the preparation of the film, Randeep leaves no stone unturned for Swantra Veer Savarkar. He had previously revealed that he had lost 18 kg for his film. The actor plays the role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the biopic.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883 in the village of Bhagur in Nashik district of Maharashtra. He was one of the main figures of the Hindu Mahasabha, a Hindu nationalist organization and political party. He was a politician, activist and writer. He is known to have developed Hindutva’s Hindu nationalist political ideology. Veer Savarkar died on February 26, 1966 in Bombay.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Randeep was last seen in Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai with Salman Khan. He then appeared in Unfair & Lovely with actress Ileana D’cruz. The film likely explores the country’s obsession with light skin. Post that, he will be seen in the titular role in Swatantra Veer Savarkar.
