As both states – Karnataka and Maharashtra – prepare for a legal battle over the decades-old border dispute over Belagavi, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that no Maharashtra village would go to Karnataka. “No Maharashtra village will go to Karnataka. The state government will fight to get Marathi speaking villages including Belgaum-Karwar-Nipani to our state as well,” said Fadnavis. On Monday, Eknath Shinde’s government in Maharashtra appointed two ministers to coordinate with the legal team regarding the trial over the dispute that will go to the Supreme Court.
