Uttarakhand’s disaster management secretary Ranjit Sinha said on January 24 that an inspection would be held to check the effects of earthquakes on cracks. He further added that the Ministry of Road Traffic and Highways (MoRTH) has visited the site to check the work of the bypass roads according to the Border Roads Organization (BRO). “Water discharge in Joshimath has increased due to recent rainfall and snowfall. You don’t have to worry. BRO said a team from MoRTH has visited the site to inspect whether work on the ring road can be started. The model of prefabricated houses for renovation will be completed soon. A number of private companies have expressed interest in developing prefab homes. Low intensity tremors were felt in Joshimath today. No buildings were damaged. The investigation team will assess the situation. We need to see whether today’s earthquake has increased existing cracks in buildings or not,” Ranjit Sinha said in Dehradun.
