Kamral Akmal Praises Kohli’s Super Knock

Virat Kohli’s cricket career is full of wonderful strokes in all formats. But the one he played against Pakistan in Melbourne on Sunday will always be remembered as one of the best, as it certainly saved India from a humiliating defeat. In the pursuit of 160, the men in blue were reduced to 31 for 4 in 6.1 overs as Kohli and Hardik Pandya took over. The duo bagged a 113-run score for the fifth wicket that proved to be the stepping stone in India’s 4-wicket win against the arch-rivals.

Kohli anchored the chase with an unbeaten 82 from 53 deliveries with the help of 4 sixes and 6 boundaries. His magnificent innings not only earned him praise from the Indian cricket club, but the likes of Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar garnered praise for the Indian ace batter.

Meanwhile, Pakistani wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal also joined the cart, raving about Virat in his latest YouTube video. The former believed that no other batter could have thrived under so much pressure. He added that if the Pakistani team had been, they would surely have lost the match.

“If there had been another batter in his place, the game wouldn’t have gotten this far. Honestly, if this was our (Pakistani) at bat, we would have lost it by 30-40 runs. We can’t handle that kind of pressure. I think all our young guys (in Pakistan) who play in U15 and U19 camps should see Virat Kohli’s entire innings. They will be coached by looking at his innings and how he finished the game,” Akmal said.

India got off to a bad start in the 160 chase. Naseem Shah drew first blood by overthrowing KL Rahul while Haris Rauf got the better of Captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. After Axar Patel ran away, Pandya teamed up with Kohli to save India from the early collapse.

“The kind of shots he played against Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz in the last over. Only a batter of his size can play something like that in today’s cricket. The way Kohli hit Rauf for a six, no one can do that.” Akmal added.
