Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh distanced himself from the party leader’s comments saying that Digvijaya Singh’s comments were his “personal opinion” and not endorsed by the party. Jairam Ramesh said on Twitter: “Senior leader Digvijaya Singh’s views are his own and do not reflect the view of Congress. Surgical strikes were carried out by the UPA government prior to 2014. Congress has supported and will continue to support all military actions in the national interest.”
