Kirti (+81 kg) and Devika Ghorpade (52 kg) were the other two boxers to confirm medals by securing their places in the last four stages.

With the addition of four more medals, India’s total number of medals now rises to 11, the same as the previous edition, held in Poland.

Tamanna started the day on an aggressive note for India as she outperformed Japan’s Juni Tonegawa in the women’s under 50 kg quarterfinals by unanimous decision. Devika also recorded an easy 5-0 win against Germany’s Asya Ari.

Muskan (75 kg) and Kirti proved too strong for their respective opponents – Zyeinyep Azimbai of Mongolia and Livia Botica of Romania – as they were declared winners within the first three minutes of the fight by the Referee Stops the Contest ruling.

Meanwhile, Preeti Dahiya (57 kg), Rhythm (+92) and Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (51 kg) exited the tournament after losing in their respective quarterfinals.

Eight Indian female boxers, including Muskan, Tamanna, Devika, Kirti, Kunjarani Devi Thongam (60 kg), Bhawna Sharma (48 kg), Ravina (63 kg) and Lashu Yadav (70 kg), will fight later on Wednesday evening in the semifinals.

Vanshaj (63.5 kg), Vishwanath Suresh (48 kg) and Ashish (54 kg) lead India’s charge in the men’s semifinals at the prestigious event.

The finals will be held on Friday and Saturday.
