Police have filed a complaint against the owner of the dog under section 289 of the IPC and have launched an investigation

An eight-year-old boy was bitten by a neighbour’s dog while playing. The boy, who was seriously injured, was rushed by his family to a private hospital in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar. The incident took place on November 6.

The boy, named Arjun Khatei, was playing when the American Akita breed dog attacked him. Based on the complaint of Arjun’s mother, the police have filed a case against the owner of the dog under Section 289 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and an investigation has been launched.

After this incident, other residents of the colony demanded that the dog be placed in the shelter home.

Meanwhile, Shrabni Patnaik, the dog’s owner, said the dog had not bitten anyone on purpose. He has been raising the dog at home for many years. It is therefore not possible to remove the dog from the house. The two families pleaded for the incident to be resolved, but the police registered a case.
