Less than a week after BTS announced their military enlistment plans, Jin traveled to Argentina to sing his new single “Astronaut” with Coldplay, while Jungkook went to Qatar for events at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Jin was spotted by paps in the airport , adjusting his hair and smiling nervously, while Jungkook’s bespectacled look is all ARMY has been talking about on social media.
Fans flooded the videos with comments like, “Have a safe flight! Qatar take care Jungkook!”
BTS performed their last scheduled concert in Busan on October 15 and addressed ARMY asking them to trust and have faith in them no matter what the future holds. Two days later, they announced through their agency that they would go ahead with their mandatory military service – a hotly debated topic for the past year, with many hoping they would be exempted. But instead of waiting for the decision to be passed in December, the band decided to go ahead with their plans anyway.
As Jin would turn 30 in December, he would initiate the process and the rest would follow on their own schedules. Before leaving for military service, Jin will release his single, “Astronaut”. The other members have albums on the way as they have hinted, but the release dates are not yet known.
